Why go?
The Lac Blanc hut sits at about 2,352 m, in the Aiguilles Rouges nature reserve, facing Mont Blanc. Sleeping there means seeing the massif at sunset and sunrise, without the daytime crowds.
You can also stop for a snack or a meal without staying the night.
Good to know
Nights are on a half-board basis, dinner and breakfast included, for about €70 in the latest season checked. The hut is staffed from early June into the autumn (from 5 June in 2026), and pets are not allowed.
For summer 2027, watch for bookings to open in spring: July and August Saturdays go first. Bring cash, as cards are not always accepted in mountain huts.
Bivouacking is forbidden at Lac Blanc; it is possible at Lac de Chésery, with compulsory booking.
Our advice
Book as soon as bookings open for a summer Saturday. Its Google rating of 3.6 from more than 800 reviews reflects an overcrowded place: come for the setting, with mountain hut expectations.
