The verdict
The Hôtel Mont-Blanc is Chamonix's urban luxury address: a five-star right in the centre, from which you walk out to the pedestrian streets, restaurants and stations. Its Google rating of 4.8 from nearly 600 reviews is the best of the town's five-star hotels.
The tourist office lists it from €300, the highest starting price in the valley, valid for an off-peak date and a basic room.
On site
The spa and the heated outdoor pool, which you can see steaming under the snow, let you end the day without going out again. The in-house Le Matafan restaurant is named after a thick pancake from the Savoyard tradition.
Rooms in the centre have their downside: the bustle of weekend evenings. Ask for a room on an upper floor or at the back if you are a light sleeper.
