The verdict
Le 3842 is the highest restaurant in the valley, at the summit of the Aiguille du Midi. People come for the experience: the view of the Vallée Blanche ridge, the Géant glacier and the needles of the massif.
Its Google rating of 4.3 from more than 400 reviews is good for such a constrained place.
On the menu
A short menu of seasonal produce, served at the table. The restaurant announces service from noon to 2pm in winter and from 11:30am to 3:30pm in summer.
How do you get there?
The restaurant is inside the summit station: you need the cable car return ticket to the summit, not just to the Plan de l'Aiguille. Book your departure slot on the Compagnie du Mont-Blanc website first, then the table for a time that leaves an hour of visiting before the meal.
Prices, time slots and buying traps are covered on our Aiguille du Midi tickets page.
Our advice, once up there
At this altitude, appetite can vanish and fatigue can set in fast: this is not the place for a long meal with young children. The cable car ticket costs far more than lunch, from €60.20 to €83 return.
