The verdict

La Calèche is Chamonix's historic, touristy Savoyard address, right in the pedestrian centre. With more than 4,500 Google reviews at 4.2, it is the most reviewed restaurant in town.

Its website gives two founding dates, 1906 and 1946: take it as a long family history rather than a precise year.

On the menu

Fondues, raclettes and Savoyard specialities, in a decor of objects brought down from the attic. The set menu of the day displayed on 27 October 2026 cost €28 for a starter and main course or a main course and dessert.

The seasonal suggestions ranged from €29 for pan-fried ceps to €37 for perch fillets.

Our advice

Come for the decor and a proper fondue, not for inventive cooking. Lunch, with its set menu, is the best time for your budget.
